Located just 1.5 hours north of Nairobi, this flying site sits on the eastern escarpment of the Great Rift Valley. The hill rises to 2,600m altitude, with a 600m height difference from the valley floor, offering three takeoff points (South, North, and Southwest). Discovered in the 1990s, it is Kenya’s oldest and most iconic paragliding site.
Pilots can camp near the takeoff area for a small fee, making it convenient for extended stays.
Takeoff is possible in nearly all wind directions, except easterly due to rotor, so plan accordingly. There’s a large landing field at the base of the hill, ideal for accuracy landings. In favorable winds, Kijabe’s takeoff points are also suitable for toplanding.
This site is a must-visit for pilots seeking stunning views and dynamic flying conditions!
